Scenario for Blender is an open-source Blender extension from Scenario that brings AI agents straight into the viewport, aimed at 3D artists and small studios who want to generate assets without leaving their scene. Announced on October 14, 2026 by co-founder Emmanuel de Maistre, it ships as a GPL-3.0 extension with a local MCP server so Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex can read the open scene and generate into it.
Core Features
- Multi-modal generation inside Blender: image, video, 3D mesh, PBR materials, audio, and 360-degree panoramas.
- A local MCP server (HTTP on 127.0.0.1:9876) lets agents inspect scenes, plan camera paths, and import results.
- Dedicated lanes for Image, Video, 3D, Materials, Audio, Film, Blockout, and Environment workflows.
- Rapid iteration: v0.10.0 (Oct 13) added film export and HDRIs; v0.11.0 (Oct 14) added in-Blender audio and MCP hardening.
- Built by a team trusted by Ubisoft, Unity, Scopely, and Lacoste for creative production.
Use Cases
- Concept artists who generate sketches from a prompt or the current viewport.
- Modelers turning text or photos into 3D meshes and editing selected materials.
- Technical directors planning camera moves and dropping music or SFX onto the sequencer.
Pricing
The plugin code is free and open under GPL-3.0. Every generation, however, runs on Scenario's paid cloud API, with a free 50-credit daily allowance during the beta rather than a flat subscription.
Our Take
Best for Blender artists who want agent-driven asset generation without swapping tools. The trade-off is that generation still bills through Scenario's cloud, so it is not a fully local, offline pipeline. Browse related AI design tools.
